MICHAEL E. COLLINS

Michael Collins was born and raised in Garden City, Kansas. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1964 and then attended the University of Kansas where he received both Bachelor’s and law degrees.

Following graduation from law school in 1971 Michael served on active duty in the U. S. Navy for three years including two and one-half years as legal officer of USS INTREPID, CV-11, home ported at Quonset Point, Rhode Island and six months teaching at Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He returned to Garden City in January 1975 to practice law and is a partner in the firm of Hope, Mills, Bolin, Collins & Ramsey.

Michael married Jan Wagner of Richmond, Kansas in July 1971 and they have three children, Brian Collins of Chicago, Sarah Coons of Salina, and Erin Collins of Durham, North Carolina. His wife, Jan works as a literacy coach at Jennie Wilson Elementary School in Garden City. Michael is a member and past president of the Garden City Rotary Club, a member and elder of the Presbyterian Church of Garden City and serves as a co-trustee of the Mary Jo Williams Charitable Trust.
