BOARD OF DIRECTORS

BETTY BENSON
Betty Benson grew up in Ness City, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University. It was there she met Joe Benson, an architecture student. They married after graduation in 1951 and moved to Denver where their children, Ann and Jay were born. In 1959 they moved to Garden City where Joe became a partner in the firm of Lyman, Cobb and Benson. Betty began teaching in the Holcomb School District in 1970 and remained there until she retired 1991. Joe passed away in 1987 and because of the wonderful care Hospice had provided; Betty worked for many years as fundraiser for Jeanne B. Corley Hospice.
She is currently volunteering at the Methodist Church, with Godmothers and at St. Catherine Hospital. Among many of her achievements, Betty was awarded with the St. Catherine Hospital Volunteer of the Year in 2003. She was on the first Board of Directors for the WKCF in 1996 and continues to promote the growth of the Foundation for the benefit of Western Kansas. For fun, she enjoys travel, bridge, a drama group and keeping up with her five grandchildren.
