Melissa Gallegos
Operations Director

Melissa Gallegos was born in Bloomfield, IA., but grew up in Eastern Nebraska including, Norfolk and Omaha, until moving to Garden City during the summer of 1991.  Although from Nebraska, Melissa is not foreign to Southwest Kansas.  Due to family ties on her mother’s side of the family who are natives of Garden City, there have been many visits prior to moving to Garden City.  Proud Granddaughter of Paul and Daisy Scheer, Melissa spent many afternoons on Papa’s farm flying kites and helping with farm chores.

Melissa graduated from Garden City High School in 1998.  She then went on to pursue music at the Garden City Community College where she graduated with an Associates degree focused in music and education.  Soon after, Melissa then explored an internship in Nashville, TN. with a music company, but found her way back to Garden City. 

Melissa is married to Javier Gallegos who is an assistant manager at Staples and together they have an energetic four-year-old son named Jaxton.  Melissa enjoys spending time with family and friends.  Melissa also enjoys singing and anything to do with music.  If she is not performing it herself, you will always find some kind of music surrounding her.

Melissa has always had a soft spot for helping others.  After joining the Western Kansas Community Foundation in November of 2008, Melissa has benefited from assisting other non-profit organizations in the betterment of our community, and is looking forward to being a part of the WKCF long into the future.
